Digger is a sweet, playful, and social girl who has a big heart and an even bigger personality! She first came to the shelter as a stray in 2025 and was happily reclaimed, but recently our animal protection officers brought her to us after finding her in a basement with four other adult dogs and two puppies. Despite her past, Digger’s loving and friendly nature shines through.
She loves people and attention—Digger will happily take treats from your hand, enjoys back scritches, and isn’t shy about jumping up or barking to get some love. She’s playful and curious, enjoys chasing toys, and even had a blast with a peanut butter jar in the volunteer office!
On leash, Digger is eager and enthusiastic, especially when other dogs are around. She can get a little excited and high-energy during dog interactions, but she responds well to gentle redirection and leash guidance. Digger thrives when given structure, attention, and patience, and she’s happiest when she has people to love and interact with.
Digger is looking for a home that can match her energy and shower her with love, play, and guidance. With her affectionate, spirited personality, she’s ready to become a devoted companion and bring joy to her forever family!

Behavior notes:
Per volunteer 1/24/26: Kennel Presentation: laying down in crate. Stood up when I approached, loose body with head slightly lowered.
Leash Skills: pushed slightly on crate door, otherwise easy to leash with a loose body. Pulled moderately through kennels, pulled hard toward dogs outside.
Sociability: very social and playful. Loves treats and can catch them - takes enthusiastically from a hand, but not snatchy. Allows handling all over and loves back scritches. Enjoyed peanut butter jar in the vol office. Will jump up and bark for attention.
Play: chased a toy, did not possess and lost interest.
Dog Interaction: met Shay Shay through the fence. Stiff body with a high tail and sniffs, began barking and getting frustrated, jumping side to side, when shay shay walked away. Proceeded with leashed meet and Digger pulled hard toward Shay Shay then came in a bit hot for sniffs. Stiff body and high tail while sniffing, continued trying to pursue/sniff Shay Shay when she walked away (was not interested). Digger was able to be redirected with leash pressure and calling her. She and Shay Shay were not an energy match and she seemed a little too high energy, getting frustrated when Shay Shay did not reciprocate.
Return to Kennel: hesitated at crate, followed treats in easily.
Per staff 1/21/26: in crate super sweet, wiggly and loose and licked my hands
Per finder 10/7/25: Friendly
