The Karen in the Cardboard Box: Ever wanted to share your home with a dramatic middle manager trapped in a cat’s body? Meet Hue.
Hue is a beautiful apricot tabby with white who loves two things: snacks (specifically Churu) and voicing his opinions. If something isn’t to his liking, you’ll hear about it in a long, drawn-out “meoowww” that sounds suspiciously like he’s asking to speak to the manager.
He’s also a master of finding himself in places he shouldn’t be—because boundaries, apparently, are just suggestions. He prefers sleeping in a small cardboard box instead of a cozy cat bed—because of course he does.
Hue’s the slightly calmer yin to his brother Carlos’s chaotic yang, though don’t be fooled—he still enjoys late-night parkour with his brother, running around like two unhinged toddlers after espresso, and turbo time on the cat wheel.
He’s cat- and dog-friendly with slow introductions and would love to go home with his brother Carlos—or another playful cat who enjoys zoomies and the occasional dramatic soliloquy.
New things can spook him at first, and he’s still getting used to being handled, so he’ll need someone patient who can keep working with him (and listening to all his opinions).
He’ll thrive with someone who appreciates both drama and heart. Basically, he’s sweet, weird, and unapologetically himself—a cat who knows what he wants (and will definitely tell you).
Hue is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting him, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org.
Adoption fees are as follows: $155 for a single cat or kitten, $195 for a pair of cats or kittens. When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment.

AHSEM treats every adoption as "foster to adopt" This means that the first two weeks in which you have the cat is the "foster period." We do our best to ensure the right match for all involved and want to give the cat(s) time to decompress and adapt to their new environment. However, we realize sometimes things don't work out as expected. Therefore, during that two-week period, if something doesn’t work out you can bring the cat back. We will always take our cats back even after the "foster to adopt" period. We would hate to see them end up at a kill shelter, abandoned, or any other unsafe situation.
