My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Maurice, 1.5 Years Old and 100% Orange Cat Energy

If you’re looking for a cat with personality, presence, and a whole lot of opinions, Maurice is your guy. This bright-orange whirlwind lives for action. Check out his photos and you’ll see him hanging off anything he can climb. If something’s happening, Maurice will be right in the middle of it, supervising, “helping,” and making sure everyone knows he’s the main character.

Maurice would do best as an only cat (though he did tolerate a laid-back female). He is not a fan of male cats, but he’s perfectly comfortable with big dogs over 25 pounds (he was in foster with three dogs). He’s an adventurer at heart and doesn’t do well being tucked away or confined. He wants to be where the action is!

When it comes to affection, Maurice is delightfully assertive. He’ll let you know when it’s time to play (which is often), and once he’s romped out his energy, he’ll settle right into your lap and create the coziest nest you’ve ever seen.

If you’re ready for a hilarious, high-spirited companion who brings life to every room, Maurice is waiting to meet you.

FMAR felines are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated for age-appropriate shots, and negative for FIV/FeLV.

More about this shelter

We are a nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter comprised mostly of volunteers. We take in cats and dogs from local shelters and the public who can no longer care for their pets. Each of the volunteers at FMAR has a tremendous amount of love for animals and simply wants to do what they can to ensure that as many animals as possible find a forever home. Until then, each animal has a home at FMAR indefinitely.
