Peele is the sweetest Hound / Black Mouth Cur mix that's about 6-years-old. Peele's story is one that shows the true devotion of a dog and human bond. He was living in the car with his owner for nearly a year which is not easy for 80lb dog. His mom was homeless and refused to move into housing that wouldn't allow her to bring Peele so she chose to stay with him in her car. Good samaritans, including one of our staff members, were trying to get Peele and his mom somewhere safe. Finally, Peele was able to come to Abandoned Pet Rescue and his owner found affordable housing. Peele is a gentle boy that walks well on a leash and loves affection. He is friendly with other dogs and would be a nice companion for many types of families. Abandoned Pet Rescue (APR) is one of the largest no-kill animal shelters in South Florida with the mission of rescuing and sheltering abandoned and abused cats and dogs with the goal of finding them new homes. APR's adoption center has about 150 cats and 30 dogs, all of which receive nutritious meals, veterinary care, enrichment and love.
APR, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded in 1996 by a group of volunteers who were trapping, spaying and neutering feral cats and quickly realized the greater need to help abandoned pets and advocate for a no-kill community. APR is funded solely by generous donors and grants.
