From the moment she entered foster care, Coco settled in effortlessly, showing just how adaptable and people-oriented she is. She brings a quiet warmth to every space and has quickly earned a reputation as the kind of dog who makes life feel cozier simply by being nearby.
Coco is 100% housetrained with a solid routine in place and has had no accidents. She does wonderfully when left alone, happily relaxing in her crate and also doing well out of the kennel for short trips away. Her foster describes her as a “low-stress machine” — she’s calm, easy to live with, and takes new situations in stride.
She gets along beautifully with other dogs in the home, spending much of her time peacefully snoozing alongside them. Coco enjoys canine companionship, though adopters should be mindful at mealtimes, as she eats very quickly and may try to sample another dog’s food if given the chance. With clear boundaries, she responds well and takes corrections appropriately. She would do well either with a well-matched dog or as a cherished only pup.
Out in the world, Coco truly shines. She did amazing at a busy Union Brewing adoption event, confidently mingling with strangers indoors and outdoors with zero fear or reactivity. On leash, she’s curious and engaged but never over-the-top — interested in her surroundings while remaining manageable and polite. With a bit more one-on-one walking time, she’ll continue to build even better focus.
At home, Coco is affectionate, devoted, and happiest when close to her people. She loves chew toys, enjoys calm activities, and is always nearby — future adopters should be prepared for a loyal little shadow. When you arrive, you will first be asked to fill out our Shelter Adoption Application with your information. You may also pre-fill our Shelter Adoption Application ahead of time online to save time when you are at the shelter. Your application will be processed after you meet the animal.
Step 3: Tour our adoption rooms and write down the names of animals that you would like to meet. A volunteer or staff member will help you meet your chosen animals to make a match!
Step 4: When you have selected the right animal for you, our Adoptions Team will run your Adoption Application for approval. Once your application is approved, you will participate in an adoption class where you will learn all of the details about your new adopted family member, including their known history and medical records.
What else to expect: Animals who are already spayed/neutered and past their stray hold (if applicable) can often go home with you the same day. Pick-up arrangements for unaltered animals and/or animals still on a stray hold will be made during your adoption class.
