My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bob is an 8-year-old, 19-pound Beagle mix who’s as gentle as they come. This sweet boy has been a wonderful guest in his foster home, where he gets along beautifully with his human foster sister (age 5) and his canine foster siblings. He’s housetrained, though like many dogs, he may need a little patience and understanding as he adjusts to a new home and routine. He also does great in his crate and finds comfort in having a safe, cozy space to call his own.

While a fenced yard isn’t required, it would be ideal for Bob. He’s a timid and sensitive guy who would love having a secure outdoor area to explore at his own pace and feel confident in. Bob has been friendly and receptive to everyone he’s met so far. Though a bit shy at first, his tail starts wagging whenever a new friend comes by. He hasn’t met larger dogs or cats yet, but based on his easygoing nature, we expect he’d do just fine with them too.

Bob is the kind of dog who quietly sticks close, following his foster mom around the house just to be nearby. He’s beginning to explore more on his own, but his favorite place is still a soft dog bed where he can relax and feel safe. When approached for affection, he comes eagerly but sometimes freezes or cowers when first being pet—he’s still learning that love is safe and consistent.

According to his foster mom, Bob is “the sweetest, most mild-mannered guy.” He’s gradually coming out of his shell, even starting to bounce around with excitement and play with toys. He watches the other dogs and is slowly joining in their fun. He’s still figuring out stairs and occasionally surprises his foster family by managing to climb onto the couch when no one’s looking.

Bob is looking for a patient and loving adopter who will give him the time and reassurance he needs to build confidence. With gentle encouragement, this tender-hearted boy will continue to blossom and show just how special he truly is. His minimum adoption fee is $200 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents.

He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
