My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Nougat was brought in by a community member on October 24, 2025.

Why Nougat might be the one for you:
Nougat, with her fantastic perky ears and handsome golden brown coat is one regal looking lady. She looks dignified and majestic even when she rolls over for belly rubs. Nougat prefers people to other dogs. If she could talk human, she would say "I really want to be with you and hope that you will give me a lot of your attention". She will also say that she does not like to be left alone very often. Nougat will do best in a home that can continue her training and provide plenty of exercise and love. Once she has had a chance to play (hopefully with you) and burn off some energy, she is ready to settle down next to you for snuggles. She is a smart lady and will respond well to training. She walks well on a leash. We can help you with tips and resources for using positive reinforcement training which we are using successfully with Nougat. Do you want a dog with dignity who thrives on her people and is always up for meeting their friends? Do you want a dog that wants lots of belly rubs? Do you want a new best friend? If so, come and meet Nougat with the greatest little ears. She is waiting.

At SDHS:
Nougat has been vaccinated, microchipped, spayed neutered and is now ready for her new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
