My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Toby was brought in by their previous owner.

Why Toby might be the one for you:
Through no fault of her own, Toby is looking for a new retirement home. Toby is a muted brownish/grey tabby cat who is waiting for her new owner to come and take her to her new home. You see, Toby is a small family kind of pet - maybe just a couple people or maybe even a solo owner. Toby is litter trained as she has been an indoor only cat. She likes the outside but only from a safe distance. She has not been around kids, dogs or other pets. Toby is an independent sort who wants to pick her time and place for cuddles. She likes to nap and she likes string toy play with her human. She likes to snuggle under blankets when it gets even a little bit cold. She will be best with an owner who knows and understands independent cats like Toby. Let her be and she will be with you - just give her time. Do you want a cat who is NOT pestering you all the time but who will express her love and gratitude her way on her time? Toby is that kind of retiree. Inquire about adopting him today!

At SDHS:
Toby has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed neutered. Toby is now ready for her new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
