My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Mickey was brought in by his previous owner on October 5, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Mickey is a sweet, 10-year-old male cat with a gentle spirit and a heart full of love. Though he may be a little shy when meeting new people, Mickey warms up once he feels comfortable in his surroundings. He's the kind of cat who takes a little time to trust, but once he does, he'll greet you with soft bunts and lean into your hand for the petting he craves. His favorite spots? Anywhere he can get a scratch on the head or a gentle rub on his cheeks.

Mickey's calm and laid-back demeanor makes him an ideal companion for someone who appreciates a quiet, affectionate cat. He might not be the first to jump into your lap, but once he's settled in, he'll be your loyal buddy, enjoying the simple pleasures of head rubs and peaceful companionship. Whether lounging by your side or curling up in a cozy corner, Mickey will always make his presence known with his sweet, quiet charm.

If you're looking for a cat who's gentle, easygoing, and loves a little attention in his own time, Mickey may be the perfect fit for your home. Give him a chance to show you how special he really is!

He would prefer a home without dogs or children under 6 years old. And don't forget - you'll need a secure, hard-sided carrier to take him home. Mickey doesn't travel light... or in cardboard.

Shy/Fearful Cat:  This pet requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
