My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My foster writes: Scar is a very shy but incredibly cute cat. He has had limited early socialization, likely due to
coming from a hoarding situation. This means that at the beginning, Scar was extremely shy and would not leave his box except at night to eat and use the litter box. Gradually, however, he has become more and more comfortable in his new surroundings. While he's still skittish and incredibly quiet (you won't hear him stroll around and we've not yet heard his voice!), you can instantly see that Scar is a gentle soul with a big heart who simply wants to be loved. Over the last weeks, Scar has become braver and more curious, exploring the comfiest locations in the apartment, and best of all, he's started to play! He loves his crinkle balls and at night, will gallop up and down the hallway playing with them. We've also recently started playing with hair ties with him, which he loves as well.
Scar still feels safest when playing in his "comfort zones" - under the bed or when the house is quiet at night - but he's beginning to venture out during the day and plays in the hallway as well. Scar is still getting used to being around humans and appreciates it when we give him the time and space he needs, and do not force any pets or cuddles on him. Slow movements and soft voices around him still work best. However, we have seen incredible improvements in the three short weeks he has been with us and believe that with enough time, love and patience, Scar will blossom into a very loyal and adorable companion.

What my friends at ACC say about me:

I am looking for a home with a patient person.

I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace.

A volunteer writes: Scar will have better days, but right now it seems like he's come across a string of not so great ones. It happens, so we've been trying our best to help him to look on the bright side for a moment to see all the people cheering on his success (and the snacks we hold in our hands). With that in mind, Scar takes a big breath to meet us half way. He's been curious about the shelter and has even allowed some pets from time to time. We know, of course, that shelter life is a big adjustment for our Scar who came to us from a home with many other cats. While he may not have had as many opportunities as other cats have had to meet new people, he's still really hoping to meet you.
