UPDATE 12/1/25:
From his foster mom:
Bo is a sweet older gentleman that would be great in a home with kids, dogs, and probably cats, too. He's just an easy dude with a sweet personality! He loves playing with his stuffed bear, jumping over me on the couch and going for walks.
He's an excellent cuddler and wants to sleep behind my knees every night. He may have a bit of hearing deficit (yet to be confirmed by vet) and needs daily eye drops, but is otherwise doing great! You'd never guess he was 11 years old!
HISTORY
Bo came to us after his owner passed and there was no family or friends able to take him in. This 11-yr-old gentleman will get a much-needed spa day and treatment for his chronic dry eye so common in Shih-Tzus. Bo would love to have another dog friend in his forever home, as he was seen trying to make friends with several of our dogs upon intake. He walks well on leash, and we were told that he is potty-trained and potty-pad trained.
Bo is understandably a bit anxious about his new situation, but his wonderful foster family (and their dog) will help him adjust to this major life change. He would do best with a family familiar with the breed and with no small children.
Keep checking this page and our FB site for updates on Bo as we get him fully vetted and get to know him.
WE ONLY ADOPT LOCALLY WITHIN A 2 HOUR RADIUS OF THE TRICOUNTY AREA. ***Exceptions may be made for seniors or hard to place dogs.
If the animal is under the age of 3 years old or has health issues, a vet reference is required which means you must own a pet or have owned a pet in your name.
Adoption fee of $ covers all vetting including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip heartworm test and treatment if needed and any other medical that may be required while in rescue.
We only do adoptions on Saturday and not all animals are able to attend so if you would like to see a specific animal please let us know so that we can make arrangements for it to be present at the event. Event locations do vary so please check the homepage to find out where we will be this week. Please do not ask us to reduce adoption fees since all fees help us to cover medical expenses for all of our animals, some of which can be very expensive. Saving lives is not cheap so thank you for your understanding and helping us save as many as possible.
Please email lowcountryanimalrescue@ymail.com for an application.
