My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Karma is a beautiful black mixed-breed sweetheart with a gentle soul and a friendly spirit that shines the moment you meet her. She carries herself with calm confidence and a soft, loving presence that makes people feel instantly at ease. Whether she’s greeting a new friend or leaning in for quiet cuddles, Karma has a natural way of spreading comfort and kindness everywhere she goes.

On walks, Karma shows off her excellent leash manners—strolling politely at your side, taking in the world with curiosity but never pulling or rushing. She’s attentive, well-behaved, and always eager to check in with her humans. Her good manners don’t stop there: Karma knows her basic commands and listens well, making her an easy and enjoyable companion both inside and outside the home.

Gentle, loyal, and full of heart, Karma is the kind of dog who fits seamlessly into your life. She’s friendly with everyone, patient, and always ready to share her quiet sweetness. Whether you’re out exploring or relaxing at home, Karma is the perfect partner—steady, affectionate, and beautifully well-mannered.

More about this shelter

The Animal Welfare League is a non-profit organization committed to advocating for animal protection and welfare. We are based in Port Charlotte, Florida. Since 1963 our shelter has served the Charlotte County community by providing a temporary home, medical service and caring attention for many dogs, cats and other animals. These animals come to us as strays, pets given up by their owners, unfortunate animals rescued from abuse and neglect, or simply lost pets in need of being re-united with their families.
