Here's what the humans have to say about me:
**PLEASE BE SURE YOU ARE READY TO ADOPT WHEN REQUESTING AN APPLICATION!!**
11-9-25: "Hello everyone, my name is TEDDI, and I do thank you for stopping to read all about me! Well, let's start with how I got here, to this great rescue! I had the best home a doggie could ask for, and everything I needed or wanted, was happily given to me! I loved my family and they loved me, but they had a small grandchild, and we found out that I need a home with no small children. I didn't mean any harm to the child, and I was put in a crate on the porch and not allowed back inside. Now, you know it's November and in the NC mountains, it starts to get really cold, and it wouldn't have been good for me, so they contacted my Foster Mom, and here I am! Now that's my backstory, here's my details: I am about 13 years old, have all my vaccines, am neutered, chipped and HW-! I might add that I was HW+ when my family adopted me, so I kicked the heart worms to the curb!! My current weight is about 27 pounds, and I do need to lose a few of those pounds, so walks would be great for me, and some great bonding time with us together too! I am good with other dogs, but cats unknown, and once again, I need a home with no small children. Now if you fall in love with me and have small ones that come around, just put me in my crate, I won't mind one bit! My crate is always clean and dry! My house manners are that I will occasionally mark, but with correction, I stop. I do love car rides with you as well!"
"So do I sound like a nice older gentleman you'd love to have in your life? Just email my Mom at citizens4animals@yahoo.com for an application or any questions you may have. FOR FASTEST REPLY, PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE NUMBER ON HERE--EMAIL, AS EMAILS ARE CONSTANTLY MONITORED!!"
"Till we meet, have the most PAWSome day!!"
Love,
TEDDI

We ask all potential adopters to fill out an application for adoption which is sent to them as soon as an inquiry is received. The application is reviewed, and the applicant's vet reference is checked by phone. If the applicant does not have a good vet record, the application is denied. If the applicant is renting a home, we ask for his landlord's name and phone # and check to make certain the applicant is allowed to have a pet. If there are any concerns regarding the application, we bring them to the applicant's attention and ask for clarification. This is done before the applicant meets the pet. We then set up a meeting at a mutually convenient time and place. If the applicant wants the pet, we ask for a check made payable to CFAW at the time the applicant takes the pet. The adoption donation is held for 3-5 days during which the potential adopter can decide whether (or not) he wants to permanently adopt the pet. If he decides not to adopt and returns the pet to us, his check is returned at that time. There is also a Pet Adoption Contract which basically states that the adopter will take good care of the pet. This is signed by both parties.
