Charlie is a 3-year-old, 80-pound Great Pyrenees mix. Charlie`s story is one of loyalty and deep trauma. Over a year ago, he was abandoned with his companion. They only had each other. When his friend was fatally hit by a car, Charlie did the only thing he knew how to do: he stayed by his side.
Some incredibly kind people found Charlie and his friend. It took a long time, but he was eventually rescued from the scene and brought to a shelter local to him. The kind people who found him then took him home and spent the past year pouring their love into him. They helped him socialize, tried different avenues to manage his anxiety, and loved him dearly. However, they recognized that Charlie needed more than they could give. With a house full of kids and other pets, they knew he needed more dedicated time than they had available. He needs help and focused time to overcome his past and become the incredible dog we know he can be.
Charlie is looking for a person who has patience and love to help him out of his shell. He`s an incredibly sweet boy who needs time and affection to help him feel comfortable!
Charlie is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccines. You can visit him at the shelter Tuesdays through Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM or Sundays from 12:00 to 5:00 PM.

We strive to ensure a safe, healthy, and loving environment that will provide temporary shelter for abandoned, stray, and surrendered animals and to find each animal a new and prosperous home.
The Babinski Foundation is a private 501c3 animal shelter located in Pequot Lakes, MN. We are a safe place to surrender dogs and cats. We also are a stray drop-off facility for stray cats and dogs.
OUR STORY
The Babinski Foundation was established in 2010 by Donald and Elizabeth Babinski owners and founders of Babinski Properties which owns multifamily housing in Minnesota, Florida and South Dakota. He and his wife Elizabeth were working tirelessly to get the animal shelter opened which was their dream, but Donald Babinski passed away August 11th, 2014 before the shelter could open. Elizabeth continued where they left off and the Foundation opened in January 2016 in Pequot Lakes, MN. Elizabeth passed away on November 13th, 2020. Donald and Elizabeth’s dream was finally realized, and Donald and Elizabeth’s surviving family and friends will continue to work hard to fulfill their mission.
