My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What Makes Me So Special

Lincoln, a neutered Frenchton, (2yrs, 4 months and 35.4lbs) is playful, energetic, affectionate, outgoing, and quite the character. Lincoln is looking for a home as the only dog or with ONE other companion dog to play with. Lincoln loves to run, go on walks and enjoys a daily ride in the car. He also loves tug-of-war with ropes and tug toys. We find Lincoln to be very funny. We always joke that he would be the perfect fraternity mascot. He grunts, snorts, farts, snores and will happily roll onto his back for a belly rub. He has no issue sharing his toys and is used to going into his crate to enjoy a meal, bone or treat. Lincoln can be an escape artist. He has been known to squeeze himself out of a fenced in backyard to say hello to a neighbor’s dog down the street or just see if his human is up for a game of tag. Due to Lincolns comedic antics, he will need a fenced-in backyard with room to run and play. One of the things we love about Lincoln is how he will nudge your leg gently at times to let his human know he’s looking up at you.

Lincoln doesn’t love to go outside when it’s cold and wet so potty breaks when the weather is such can require a little more encouragement. And while I would love to say he never has an accident in the house that would be untrue. Some days he just can’t be bothered with walking the 5 steps needed to potty outside so if he is having one of those days, he may need a personal escort. Lincoln sleeps soundly in his crate all night with no issues. During the day, Lincoln will happily go into his crate to enjoy his favorite bones and treats and will often choose to go in his crate when he is feeling ready for an afternoon snooze.

Lincoln really enjoys playing with another dog but sometimes playtime can get rough so he will need a larger companion dog or one of equal size. If Lincoln is the only dog in the household, he will need an active owner who can provide the daily exercise and companionship he requires. It would be preferable that Lincoln is not in a home with other small animals or small aged children. He is a lover and as much as he tries to be gentle his huge mouth can sometimes deliver more of a kiss than you bargained for. That being said, Lincoln is wonderful with my kids (ages 7, 9, 11), smothers them with kisses and allows them to take objects (food, bones, etc..) from him with no issues. He looks to them for affection and loves TV snuggle time. Lincoln is really the best dog and we love him so much. We also know that he isn’t his best self in a multi-dog household, then add kids to that and it’s a lot of energy all under one roof. Our ideal home for him would be an active household with ONE other companion dog to play with. When Lincoln gets around multiple dogs at once he can get overexcited, which can turn playtime more aggressive if you are not monitoring closely. However, he is very smart, eager to please and I do believe in the right household he could overcome some of those overwhelming feelings (when around multiple dogs at once) and learn to regulate his response to that overstimulation.

Lincoln eats Royal Canin Gastrointestinal dry dog food. He also loves scrambled eggs and fruit and is happy to help clean the floors day or night. He does not have any known allergies. Lincoln does need to have his face gently cleaned a couple times a week (especially between his wrinkles), which he doesn’t mind at all. He doesn’t mind a shower. He does not love getting his nails cut so we have typically had that done at our veterinarian. Lincoln is up to date on all vaccines, microchipped, and on heartworm prevention

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption fee is generally based on the dog's age and provides for neutering or spaying, all required shots, heartworm testing (we endorse "the new moxie-doxy" treatment for heart worms).

It is our expectation & a requirement that heartworm preventative be continued as well as any required vet visits after the pet is adopted.

If for some reason a match isn't made the first time around and you are approved, we will keep your application on file for the next opportunity to arise. Our primary goal is to place a dog in the most suitable environment, based on the animal's individual needs and its temperament. The commitment is lifelong and the Boston's interests are always foremost.

More about this rescue

All breeds have their own particular needs and rescued pets often have special requirements as well, very often in want of medical care, often lacking nourishment and kindness, and often expensive to rehabilitate.

Because we have had Boston Terriers for many years, we are very familiar with their habits, peculiarities and their special needs.

We operate across the southeast under the auspices of the Boston Terrier Rescue Network. We share information and resources in all of the USA with affiliated Boston Rescues.
