My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you searching for a companion who defines sweetness? Look no further than Nena, a dog whose gentle spirit is as lovely as her name. Nena is the kind of girl who brings an immediate sense of calm and peace to any room she enters, ready to be a devoted shadow and the best friend you've ever had.

Nena thrives on affection and is at her happiest when she can be close to her humans, whether it's gently leaning against your leg or putting her head on your shoulder with those big, soulful eyes.

Nena is now available for adoption at ACCT Philly- you can meet her any day from 10am-6pm!

Behavior Notes:
Per Volunteer 11/26/25: Super sweet lady!. She takes treats very gently from me. She was very easy to leash although she dodged the leash a few times at first. Very treat motivated! Took pets from me all over, submissive and affectionate. She pancaked when walking outside the back door in the rain and then when we tried again in the front door, she went out no issue. She is really good on leash without much pulling! Sweet girl who likes to cuddle up into you. Easy to unleash.

Per Volunteer 11/23/25:
Kennel Presentation: Soft eyes, ears up and to the side, loose body, medium tail with slow wags

Leash Skills: Easy to leash with minimal to no pulling through the kennels. When we got to the vestibule to go outside, she pancaked through the first door back came with coaxing, then completely pancaked in the vestibule and refused to go through the outside door (ignored treats, leash pressure, coaxing). She was willing to go through adoptions without any issue. She came back in the side door (where she had refused before) without issue as long as she could avoid the puddle. Walks gently and calmly on leash, sometimes fearful of doorways.

Sociability: Lots of sniffing around once we got outside. After a few minutes, began seeking handler interaction for soft, brief pets. Allowed handling all over and leaned in. In the volunteer office, she sniffed around and was softly panting, frequently returning to handlers for reassurance and pets.

Play: Did not engage

Dog Interaction: Met Mase through the fence then on leash. Nena was very interested through the fence, giving sniffs with a high wagging tail and loose body. When we came out, she pulled gently toward Mase, tail remaining high and wagging and body loose. She gave gentle butt sniffs and a quick face to face sniff before disengaging. She allowed Mase to do the same with a relaxed body.

Return to Kennel: Easy to return.

Color Level: Blue

Recommendations and considerations: Fearful, often around doors. Seems to not like puddles.
