My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Scorpio was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team on November 1, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Scorpio, the cat who saw the words "mysterious, intense, and dramatic" in the zodiac forecast and thought, "Finally... a description I can work with." This dashing little enigma was found outdoors and originally came in full-on "do not disturb" mode-frozen, hissing, spitting, and giving staff the kind of side-eye usually reserved for people who talk during movies. But with a little patience, some tasty bribes, and a sprinkle of charm, Scorpio started showing his softer side: rubbing on his kennel bars, meowing for attention, and even requesting pets like the tiny, whiskered gentleman he truly is. Scorpio is on the hunt for a cat-savvy, child-free home with someone who understands that trust takes time-and that his glow-up happens on his schedule. He'll need to start in a quiet confinement room so he can decompress and decide when he's ready to explore his new kingdom (so have that ready to go before coming in to adopt). This stellar boy thrives with plenty of enrichment- tall trees, puzzle toys, or safe enclosed catio to keep his mind and paws busy. If you've ever dreamed of adopting a semi-spicy drama king with a soft heart hidden under that dramatic exterior... Scorpio might just let you be his chosen subject of adoration. Oh, and don't forget to bring a top-loading plastic cat carrier when you come to meet him - it'll help make his journey home safe and stress-free!

Shy/Fearful Cat:Scorpio requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
