My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Ommi was brought in by his previous owner on January 3, 2026.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Ommi, the mystical feline who sees all, knows all, and definitely sets all the rules! This distinguished gentleman is looking for a calm, adult-only sanctuary (ages 12+) where he can be the undisputed solo star of the show without other cats to cramp his style. While he spends most of his day luxuriously recharging on fuzzy blankets, Ommi does have a playful side and will happily engage with wand toys, pompoms, boxes, or even a stray piece of wrapping paper. He's a cat who values his personal space, so while he truly enjoys gentle head and neck scritches, he prefers to keep the physical affection limited to those specific zones. If you are a patient soul who speaks fluent cat and understands that handling is optional, Ommi might just let you into his inner circle. Just remember to bring a secure, hard-sided carrier for his arrival, as Ommi has very strict transport protocols and absolutely does not negotiate!

At SDHS:
Ommi has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Ommi is now ready for their new home!

Overstimulated Cat:Ommi requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about him.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
