My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LEARNING TO TRUST AGAIN:  Approx. 2 years old / Approx. 37 lbs.

Hi, my name is Cecelia! I was adopted from Mostly Mutts and returned after about nine months.  When I came back, I was very shut down and scared - very different from how I was before. The kind trainers and volunteers here are helping me feel safe, understand the world around me, and work through some of my reactions to new people, especially men. I’m trying hard and making progress, and I’m hopeful for a fresh start with a family who will help me continue to blossom.

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I did well with the dogs I met at Mostly Mutts previously and my former owner reported that I liked the dogs I met while I was with them.  I also lived with a dog there, so if you have a dog already, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / Mostly Mutts recommends calmer kids 15 and older due to my fear challenges with new people, so let’s meet.  I did love the kids I met when I was previously with Mostly Mutts.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  My whole body wags with joy when I get to spend time with the volunteers that I’m comfortable with.  I do have stranger danger challenges at first, mainly with light-skinned men, and women are my favorite people, but once I really trust you, man or woman, I’ve been great!  Reaching over my head or grabbing at me, like grabbing for my leash or collar scares me, so a snap is my way of warning that I’m afraid, but I have not had any bites. Please give me time to come to you and don’t rush me.  Some daily exercise, games, and chew toys to keep my energy focused in the right direction is always fun.  I alert bark at new noises or people coming into the room, but respond well to the ‘leave it’ command.  I got to go on a day trip recently and did great in the car and enjoyed walking around a nice quiet nature park, sniffing all the things and happily watching all the squirrels. / My energy level is 4-6.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I'm in the Mostly Mutts University training program and have already mastered the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’ and ‘drop it’ commands and I look forward to learning more. / My potty manners have been good at Mostly Mutts and my former owner reported that I had good potty manners too. / I haven’t been in a crate at Mostly Mutts as I get to stay in one of the little rooms at the shelter.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I like to be with people that I trust and that make me feel safe - my favorite thing is sitting in your lap and resting my head on your shoulder – so precious!  I like treats and the play yard at the shelter is awesome, and I enjoy running around and having fun there.  I’d benefit from a fenced yard in my new home, where I can do the same with you. After some playing, I love to snuggle up to my people and relax.  I like riding in the car, too. / I don’t like walking in areas that have heavy traffic or too many crowds.  I wouldn’t want to live in a home where a lot of new people came in or if I was rushed into new relationships as I just need time to trust people.  I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training from those that I trust and love.

• MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.  I’ve started a medication called Fluoxetine and Xanax to help with the stress and anxiety I’m feeling and it’s helping.  Just ask how it’s going.

I am looking for a great home with an active and loving furever family that will treat me with love and kindness!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption's Adoption Process

Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following:

Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care.
We are not yet up to full ‘staffing’ following the pandemic, so there may be times when we cannot do meet & greets or process an application on the spot.
The best first step is to submit an application via www.mostlymutts.org.
Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!

Adoption Info:
Please submit an application through our website at www.mostlymutts.org if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets. We are receiving a large volume of applications and processing may take a little bit longer than normal. We are grateful for your interest, and an adoption counselor will be in touch as quickly as possible. Please give us 48 hours to respond before sending a follow-up email.

Don’t see a dog or cat for you on the website? Submit the application anyway!! We are taking in a large number of dogs and cats weekly. Due to the overwhelming demand, many are matched with approved applicants prior to being posted online. Our adoption counselors will be happy to help make a great match for you and your family.

Who We Are:

Mostly Mutts is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, staffed almost entirely by volunteers!

Our Mission is to help the Unwanted, Abandoned, Abused and Sick animals in our local counties. We fulfill this mission by working closely with County Animal Control Facilities, saving those who are in imminent danger of euthanasia, or those with needs which require specialized vet care that many other groups will not consider: major orthopedic issues, heartworm positive treatment, skin conditions, neglect and abuse

Please visit our website, www.mostlymutts.org for additional information about adopting a new best friend!
