He took treats like a gentleman and soaked up every bit of love and attention.
When you stop at his kennel, you’ll see his whole body wiggle in excitement as he hops up to say hello. He can be a little pushy with all that enthusiasm, but once leashed, he’s easygoing and ready to mingle. And mingle he does—Hip Hop is the ultimate social butterfly, greeting everyone with happy grunts, giant smiles, and full-body joy. He adores butt scratches, loves snacks, and will show off his “hops” and goofy tricks for anyone watching.
He may get a little riled up when he's really excited and offer some light mouthing, but give him a treat and he shifts right back into Hip Hop mode. He’s friendly, cuddly, playful, and just an all-around big-hearted hunk.

Per day trip 11/30: Hip Hop is such a sweet boy! He absolutely loves food and seems to know “sit” if you’re patient with him. Even though he’s a big, hunky dude, he can be a little hesitant with loud or surprising noises. He had a blast on his day trip, especially playing fetch with a jumbo tennis ball. He also loves following you all around the house, always wanting to be part of whatever you’re doing. He enjoyed working on a bone I gave him, though it took him a solid 15 minutes to realize it would be much easier to chew while laying down instead of standing up. Overall, he’s a happy, goofy, food-motivated pup who takes treats gently and brings so much joy. Anyone would be lucky to welcome this big sweetheart into their family.
Per staff 11/29/25: A volunteer brought Hip Hop into the office and he was a ton of fun! He is a stocky guy and was out of breath from running around after toys. He is gentle and allowed the volunteer to put two different hats on him and posed for photos. He took treats gently and was an all around good guy! Allowed all petting and handling.
Per staff 11/29/25: Kennel Presentation: Hip Hop was at the back of the kennel as i called him over. he ran to the front door with a wiggling body and soft eyes. he jumped up on the bars excited to go out. he was pretty difficult to leash as he kept trying to push out. once secured he hopped down.
Leash Skills: pulls minimally
Sociability: Hip Hop in the room was a social butterfly. he greeted everyone with grunts and smiles. he loves food and will do anything for it. he adores butt scratches and allowed all handling. the more people that entered the room to see him, the more excited he got. he got a bit riled up and started ight mouthing but with food distractions, he was fine. HH is a very good hunk of a boy, showing everyone his hops and tricks

The Animal Care & Control Team of Philadelphia (ACCT Philly) is the region’s largest animal care and control service provider. ACCT Philly is an independent, 501c3 nonprofit organization, contracted by the City of Philadelphia to provide animal control services. Our animal control officers provide service over 142.6 square miles to the city’s more than 1.5 million residents and ACCT Philly’s facility in North Philadelphia handles more than 17,000 of the city’s animals, from dogs and cats, to small animals, reptiles, birds and wildlife, annually.
In addition to animal control and sheltering, ACCT Philly is open 365 days a year for pet adoptions.
