My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sophia a 13-year-old survivor looking for her soft landing. Sophia was abandoned in her senior years, left to fend for herself until kind neighbors called animal control. Thankfully, our rescue stepped in and promised her a new chapter one filled with comfort, kindness, and care. She came to us with several health issues, but this gentle lady is already on the mend. Her skin and ear troubles are improving beautifully with treatment, and for the first time in a long time, she has a soft bed to curl up on and regular meals she can count on. Sophia carries herself with the quiet dignity only an old soul can. She loves peaceful company, warm blankets, and sunny spots where she can snooze the day away. She greets people with a soft, grateful look and offers steady, warm companionship in return. But make no mistake this mellow senior still has plenty of spark.Sophia is a pistol. If you leave the trash uncovered or food on the counter, shell happily help herself. Shes incredibly smart and has already Houdinid her way out of every barrier weve tried. Crates? Absolutely not she has made her opinion known. And despite her age, she still thinks chasing squirrels (and cats) is a perfectly reasonable hobby. Sophia loves walks, loves car rides, and gets adorably excited when her people come home. She absolutely knows the difference between you being in the house and gone and behaves accordingly! She is heartworm positive, but due to her age, her treatment is the long-term kind: consistent monthly prevention to slowly clear the infection. What she needs most is simply a calm, warm home with someone who can bring her to the vet as needed, keep her on her medications, and maybe offer a pain reliever for general stiffness. Sophia isnt asking for much just comfort, routine meals, gentle care, and someone who sees the worth and beauty in a senior dog who has been through far too much. If you can offer Sophia a peaceful home or a soft place to land, please consider opening your heart to a senior. She has so much quiet love to give, and she deserves to spend her final years knowing she is cherished. More about this rescue

Thank you for considering adopting a GSRA dog. We love that you are exploring rescuing a GSD. We firmly believe that the adoption of a dog is not one to be taken lightly. Because of this belief, our adoption process is what some would described as lengthy and can be emotional. If you are looking to take a dog home "tomorrow", unfortunately our organization is not for you.
