Attitash (is named after a mountain/ski resort here in New Hampshire it is pronounced “At-a-tash”), is a very timid and shy girl who has taken some time to come out of her shell and comfort zone. She does tend to hide in the furthest corner of the room away from the door so that she can see what is happening in front of her. She is very curious about life and can be seen peeking around the corner to find out what is going on or happening in the next room. When she warms up to you, all she wants is love, attention and affection. You will know that she is comfortable with you once she rolls over onto her back so that you can rub her belly and that is when you will be able to see a patch of white fur on her chest in the shape of a heart! She only barks when she hears voices outside of the home or when a stranger walks in that she doesn't know and will retreat into another room until she is comfortable enough to come out.

Attie loves her toys and will bring them all into the room that you are in and play. She loves deer antlers and Yak cheese sticks to chew on. She gets sudden bursts of the "zoomies" about twice a day and will run all over the house. She does get a little nervous when you try to put her leash on, but it quickly fades once it's on. She walks well on a leash and loves long walks!
Attie is extremely food motivated! She knows how to catch treats, “sit” and “leave it”. She currently sleeps in a crate at night.

Attie would do best in a quieter environment where there isn't a lot of constant loud noise because it does scare her. She is a very smart and spunky girl who wants nothing more in life than love!

Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted via email or phone by one of our volunteers. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family.

If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered.

Attie’s adoption donation is $500 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test, is on preventative, microchip and Spay/Neuter depending on age at time of adoption. If the dog is too young for a spay/neuter, then they will be adopted with a spay/neuter contract and $100 deposit. We do not have a physical shelter; all our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.

Additional adoption info

We have a written application followed by a phone interview. If the applicant is approved past this point then we check 2 personal references as well as their vet reference. If they rent we speak with their landlord as well. If all is well at this point then we do a home check. The final step is a meet and greet where the adopter and the household, including dogs travel to meet the new adoptive dog. If all goes well they can adopt. There is an adoption contract and the adoption fee ranges between $200-400 depending on the fees that we put into the particular dog.

Go meet their pets

We support local "ma & pa" business before the big box chains since many of us come from some communities. We also attended fairs and "meet & greet" events.
