Panzer has been with us since December 5, 2025, after coming in as a stray. He was found loose in a neighborhood and no owner was located. While Panzer struggles with dog reactivity in the shelter environment, he is more manageable once removed from high-stimulation areas and given space to decompress.
The challenges:
-Highly reactive toward other dogs, especially in close proximity or high-arousal environments.
-Displays intense focus, vocalization, and pulling when he sees other dogs.
-Requires experienced handling due to his size, strength, and level of intensity.
-Will need continued work on impulse control and leash skills.
-Best suited as the only pet at this time until further dog-to-dog assessments can be safely completed.
The good stuff:
-Easy to leash and cooperative with handlers when given a clear pathway and space from other animals.
-Outside of the shelter chaos, he is engaging, attentive, and responsive to people.
-Shows mild food motivation and responds well to handler engagement.
-Generally easygoing during walks when not exposed to triggers.
-Manageable for knowledgeable handlers, even when working near dog-populated areas.
Who he needs:
Panzer needs a dog-savvy home or rescue placement that understands reactivity and is committed to safe management, structure, and continued training. A controlled environment, consistent routines, and thoughtful handling will be key to helping him succeed. He will do best in a home where he can be the only pet and where his handlers are comfortable working through behavioral challenges with patience and confidence.
