My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How Indigo arrived:
Indigo was brought in by a community member on 11/16/2025.

Why Indigo is the one for you:
Meet Indigo, a sweet and gentle soul who came to us as a stray, but thanks to information from her previous owners, we know she's lived happily with both other dogs and children . Here in the shelter, Indigo has been a bit overwhelmed and shy, but her kind heart still shines through. She'll thrive in a patient home that can go slow, offer reassurance, and continue positive training to help her build confidence. With a calm environment and a loving family by her side, Indigo has all the potential to blossom into a devoted, affectionate companion.

At SDHS:
Indigo has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. Indigo is now ready for their new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
