Duchess is a sweet senior chihuahua who was surrendered to the San Diego Humane Society with another dog who has since been adopted. Duchess is 15 years old, weighs 13 pounds, and has a gentle, loving personality.
Duchess recently enjoyed a Frosted Field Trip, where she soaked up lots of TLC and showed just how easygoing and affectionate she is. Her foster mom shared that Duchess seems like a dog who was previously very loved—and it shows in her calm confidence and loving nature.
Duchess is a champion cuddler. At bedtime, she happily puts herself to bed, using pet stairs to get onto the couch or bed, and prefers to sleep on top of the covers right next to you. She also enjoys lounging on the back of the couch like a little cat and is an excellent nap partner.
Duchess truly enjoys head scratches and will gently paw you when she wants more affection. She’s polite, relaxed, and wonderfully easy to have around. Duchess was also reported to be great with other animals, including dogs, cats, and even chickens.
This sweet girl is perfectly content napping the day away but is also happy to go on a walk when it’s time to head out. Duchess would make a loving, low-key companion for someone looking to open their heart to a senior dog who has so much love left to give.
Duchess is currently on a two-week Frosted Fling to spend time in a loving foster home over the holidays, but she is still on lookout for a forever family. Might that be you?
