My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Kuma was brought in by a field service officer on November 25, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Kuma! Kuma is a dignified pup searching for a family who will appreciate his gentle nature and loyal heart. We're still getting to know him, but he's already shown us what a genuinely sweet and handsome boy he is. Kuma loves nothing more than treats, gentle pets (once he gets to know you, of course), and the company of his favorite people - once he decides you're in his circle, he's all in with soft eyes and quiet affection. Kuma does best with thoughtful outings and a calm environment. He can be a bit reactive on leash when he sees other dogs, so his future family should plan on walks during quieter times of day and choose paths with fewer canine passersby. With consistency, positive reinforcement, and awareness of his surroundings, he'll feel more comfortable and confident during his adventures. He would love a family that appreciates his loyal nature and is ready to provide structure, patience, and plenty of care. If you're looking for a devoted companion who enjoys both cozy evenings and peaceful strolls, Kuma might be the perfect match. Make sure to bring a leash and collar and come meet him today!

At SDHS:
Kuma has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Kuma is now ready for his new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
