My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Vexley — A Soft, Fluffy Senior Gentleman Learning to Trust Again ❤️

Vexley is a 12-year-old neutered male Chihuahua mix with a beautifully soft cream-and-white fluffy coat and the gentlest little soul. He spent his entire life in a home filled with many other dogs, and when everything suddenly changed, Vexley found himself frightened, confused, and without the familiarity he depended on.

At the shelter, he was tossed into a kennel, evaluated by strangers, and completely abandoned. Feeling trapped and overwhelmed, Vexley did what many terrified dogs do—he barked, cowered, trembled, and hid in the corner of his “room,” hoping the unfamiliar people would leave so he could feel safe again.

Because of his fear, others overlooked him.
But Chihuahua Rescue Truckee Meadows did not.
We stepped in and saved Vexley along with his extended family of dogs, giving him the chance he deserved.

Now, Vexley is slowly blossoming into the happy boy he always wanted to be. He enjoys soft pets, gentle affection, and predictable routines that help him feel secure. Every day he takes small brave steps forward, showing us his resilience and his desire to connect.

Vexley will thrive with an adopter who understands that trust—especially for a senior—takes time. Give him patience, space, and a calm home, and you will watch his beautiful spirit unfold. He has so much quiet love left to give.

He is current on vaccinations and microchipped, and yes… Vexley really was his name. ❤️

If you have a soft spot for seniors and believe in giving second chances to dogs who need them most, Vexley may be the perfect gentle companion for you.
