Cahira is a 7 yo Australian Shepherd who embodies the “easy companion” lifestyle. She is about 35 pounds fully grown, and she fits quietly into your day and enjoys being nearby. Cahira does not need a packed schedule but instead a comfortable home and someone she can share space with.
Cahira is fully house-trained, crate-trained, and knows commands like sit & leave it. She understands the word kennel and will happily go in, especially if there’s a treat involved. She’s polite indoors, listens well when redirected, & has proven to be an exemplary housemate. She has been invited onto the couch and bed, but she tends to prefer her dog bed or a cozy rug close to her people.
Despite being an Australian Shepherd, Cahira is low-key. She doesn’t require intense exercise, and while she likes to lounge, keeping her active is essential. Currently, she takes 2-3 short, leisurely walks and spends time in the yard. She does well on leash, though she can get a little nervous if dogs bark at her from behind a fence, so having a calm walking setup and routine will help Cahira feel at ease.
Cahira gets along well with other dogs, cats, & kids. She isn’t very interested in toys, though she does enjoy the sound of squeaky ones. She sheds surprisingly little for her breed and has a chill, gentle personality, making her an excellent match for someone looking for an easygoing dog rather than a high-energy one.
Once she chooses her person, Cahira is all in. She enjoys being in the same room as her people & sometimes will cuddle on the couch once she’s fully comfortable, but she is not pushy or demanding of attention. At night, she is flexible & happy in her crate, on a dog bed near the bed, or settling in wherever she feels most comfortable.
Overall, Cahira is a sweet, calm, respectful dog who would thrive in a peaceful home with routine. She’s perfect for someone who wants companionship without chaos!
Cahira's adoption fee is $175 and includes her spay, microchip, up-to-date vaccinations and heartworm/flea/tick preventatives.

Where are you located?
Pawsitive Tails does not have a physical location. All of our dogs live in loving foster homes throughout the Kansas City and Topeka area. This allows fosters to get to know each dog personally, so we can find the very best home for them.
What are your hours?
As a foster based rescue, every person with Pawsitive Tails is a volunteer. Because we do not have a facility, we do not have “open” hours but can be contacted between 8am and 9pm.
Can I stop in to visit dogs and play with puppies?
No. We require an approved application to be on file before meeting our dogs/puppies. In addition, our dogs live in foster homes, so we must work around the foster parents’ schedule.
