My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Scotty — The Loyal Gentleman
Personality: Sturdy, Handsome, Loves Pets!

Scotty’s language of choice is kindness and quiet loyalty. This sweet Lab mix can be a little reserved at first, but give him a moment and he’ll soon be leaning into you for those perfect booty scratches (his favorite!).

Scotty seems house-trained, walks nicely on leash, and enjoys exploring the world one sniff at a time. True to his curious nature, he’ll happily wander off to check out an interesting scent, but he always circles back to make sure you’re still right there — the kind of loyalty that melts hearts.

Scotty gets along with well matched dogs and is a calm, thoughtful soul who enjoys a good balance of adventure and affection.

Fun Fact: Scotty barks with a Scottish accent! Aye! Arf!
Scotty has a signature move — when he’s happy, he does a gentle “lab lean” against your leg, as if to say, “You’re my person now.”

If you’re looking for a companion who’s equal parts explorer and best friend, Scotty’s ready to trot by your side — accent and all.
Adoption fees are currently waived! All pets are spay/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped!

More about this shelter

The City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department’s mission is to protect and serve the pets and people of Albuquerque by providing Caregiving, Awareness, Resources, Enforcement and Service excellence.

AWD is always in need of foster homes for our pets who need time to grow, recovery from illness or injury or in need of a break from the shelter. Foster homes increase our capacity to provide services to homeless pets in our community. If you would like to donate toys, towels and milk-bones are always in need. Volunteer opportunities are also available at our shelters.
