My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Rocco! I came to the shelter with my sister Beba when our owner's health was failing. We were deeply loved, and now I'm hoping to find a new family to start my next chapter with. Beba and I are not a bonded pair and can be adopted separately, but we'd also be happy staying together if someone is looking to welcome two dogs into their home. I'm a sweet boy who takes a little more time to warm up. New people and new places can feel overwhelming at first, but once I feel safe and comfortable, my gentle personality really shines. I enjoy being near my people and appreciate a calm, patient approach while I build trust. I can be a bit vocal at times and like to let you know what's going on around me. I would do well in a home with kids of all ages and can live with other dogs. I'll need some help with puppy basics like polite leash walking, keeping my jumping in check, and potty training, but with consistency and reassurance, I'm ready to learn. If you're looking for a small companion who just needs a little extra time to feel secure and loved, I could be the perfect match for you. I can't wait to find a family willing to go at my pace and show me what home feels like again!

HSSC places animals on a first come, first serve basis. After an animal that is available for adoption has been met with, the animal’s name can be put on an application. Animals that are applied for must be adopted the same day or within 24 hours of the animal being placed on the adoption application. Exceptions will be made if any animal needs a medical procedure, but then will need to be adopted within 24 hours of being cleared from that procedure. HSSC reserves the right to accommodate alternate timelines for special needs/behavioral issue animals.
It is the potential adopter's responsibility to communicate with their landlord to contact HSSC for approval or to provide documentation stating permission within 24 hours of application submission.
It is also the potential adopter's responsibility to produce a current rabies certificate for their current dog(s) to conduct a dog to dog meet and greet within 24 hours of application submission.
