My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Patches, a gentle soul who has already weathered more than her fair share. After bravely raising two kittens entirely on her own, she’s finally ready for a life where she gets to be the one cared for.

Patches is naturally shy and prefers to take her time getting to know new people and new spaces. She blossoms slowly and quietly, but once she feels safe, her soft, affectionate nature begins to shine through. She’s the kind of cat who bonds deeply and sincerely — the quiet, steady presence who will curl up nearby and remind you that trust is a gift.

She’ll do best in a calm, patient home with someone who understands that she needs gentleness, consistency, and a bit of extra time to settle in. An experienced adopter or someone familiar with shy cats would be a wonderful match.

With the right person, Patches will grow into a loyal, soft-spoken companion who’s absolutely worth the wait.

More about this shelter

CONNECTING LIVES SINCE 1922

From our earliest beginning, Calgary Humane Society was more than a shelter. As Calgary’s first-established animal welfare organization, connecting the lives of animals and people while providing essential animal services to the community remains our central priority.

Today, Calgary Humane Society (CHS) shelters almost 5,000 homeless animals each year. In 1922 we set out to help as many animals as we can and we will continue to do so by fostering the values of respect, compassion, commitment, teamwork, integrity and innovation.

Our mission is to help as many animals as we can.

Our vision is using innovative strategies to lead, inspire, and educate in the humane treatment of companion animals, fostering an enlightened community that consistently demonstrates respect and compassion for all animals.

Our dream is a community where animals are valued, humanely treated, and live enriched lives.

Calgary Humane Society is committed to creating a better tomorrow through education and collaboration.
