Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Brownie is an 8-month-old female Chihuahua mix who came to us from Texas with her littermates, and she’s been quietly stealing hearts ever since. With her sad, unassuming eyes and tiny frame, she may look a bit reserved at first—but don’t be fooled. There’s a whole lot of curiosity packed into this little girl (along with a body that could use a few extra snacks!).
Brownie is nearly identical to her sister Shorty, with one charming difference: her ears flop over instead of standing straight up, giving her an extra dose of sweetness. You’ll often find her prancing around, sticking her head into random places just to see what’s going on, always eager to explore something new.
She’s somewhat playful and does best with dogs close to her size that respect her boundaries. Rough or overly dominant play isn’t her style—Brownie prefers gentle, polite companions. That said, she does well with other dogs, cats, and kids, making her a wonderfully adaptable little lady.
When it comes to people, Brownie is pure love. She adores humans and greets everyone with a happy tail wag and a kiss. Her signature move? Sitting right at your feet and gazing up at you with the most expectant eyes imaginable until you inevitably invite her onto your lap. Whether she’s actively soaking up pets or simply basking in your presence, she’s thrilled just to be near you.
Potty training and crate training are still a work in progress, but Brownie is very food-motivated and eager to learn, which is helping her catch on quickly.
Brownie would thrive in just about any home looking for a sweet little lovergirl—one who balances affection with a gentle sense of adventure. If you’re searching for a tiny companion with a big heart and a curious spirit, Brownie may be your perfect match.

More about this shelter
We are a non-profit organization out of Monticello, IA specializing in the care for dogs and cats that need us. Our care does not stay local, as we take transports from all over the United States, and adopt all over as well!
Our mission's primary focus is to help reduce the homeless pet population by finding homes for spayed/neutered pets, and helping educate WHY this process is so important, and the proper way to care for pets!
