Bently is being fostered in Poynette WI
Introducing Bently!!!! This beautiful hunk is a standard blue merle Aussie mix with the most beautiful thick coat, stunning eyes and gorgeous tail. We have no idea what he is mixed with, maybe Border Collie? Maybe Australian Cattle Dog? Who knows? What we can tell you is he is SWEET, SWEET, SWEET! His date of birth is 3/21/2023. Bently came to MASR from Keokuk Iowa Animal Shelter and services. He was an owner surrender because of a divorce.
Bently is a fun-loving almost 3-year-old who is pretty happy go lucky!!!! His passion for playing with toys is only matched by his desire to parkour around the couches. He might be great at obstacles courses or agility!!! He’s a bit jumpy, but only due to excitement, and he takes corrective verbal direction well. He is GREAT in his crate; whether it is while foster mom is at work or just for a quick rest to cool down after a hard play session. He settles quickly and keeps his space very clean. He is completely house broken and has good house manners. He has great leash walking skills and rides well in the car. Bently loves to snuggle, is a super affectionate boy and is a total Velcro pup. He would make a great side kick or adventure buddy!
While Bently is great with other dogs and loves to play with them, He has 2 quirks that some other dogs might not love about him: 1. He likes to steal toys and food from his four legged foster siblings, not in a mean way, but more of a playful way. 2. If the other dog growls to tell him to back off, Bently will bark at the other dog. If the other dog doesn’t care, they will play in harmony with toys, wrestling, and tug. He also lives with a 13 and 15 year old 2 legged kids, and he loves them, listens to them and loves to snuggle with them. He would be great with older children, but we don't recommend any kids under 6 because of his exhuberance. Bently is food motivated and would love to take some classes to continue to get even smarter but we recommend this with any of our MASR foster dogs because its a great way to build a bond! Bently is medium to high energy so a minimum of 2 hours a day of mental and physical stimulation would be important for him.
Bently is very interested in cats. He likes to follow them around and see what they are doing, but is not mean or overly persistent. I would say that he is fine with a dog-savvy cat who has somewhere to get away from being stared at. Does this handsome hunk look like your next family member?
Bently is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms. Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization. For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.
NOTE: All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in. Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application. We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family. MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives. www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org
