My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I`m Clara! I was part of a seizure of 17 German Shepherds that GCHS assisted with. Due to my previous living situation I`m shy & get nervous of new people. When I`m comfortable with you, I will happily come to you for attention & give kisses.
My future family would need to be patient & understanding with my lack of socialization. I`ve never lived inside a home before so that would be a new experience. I need someone who is willing to go slow with me & not push me to meet people or do things that make me uncomfortable. Previous German Shepherd experience and/or experience with an under-socialized dog is preferred.

More about this shelter

The GCHS is comprised of an estimated 500 members, dedicated shelter staff, volunteers, board of directors, and a growing network of foster homes. Due to the commitment of these people, the GCHS has gone from a 62% kill rate in 1999 to a NO-KILL status. Our mission includes:
. Promoting compassionate and appropriate treatment of animals throughout Green and Lafayette Counties.
. Realizing the need to educate the general public in areas of animals' care, especially the need for spaying and neutering of animals to prevent further overpopulation.
. Diligently assisting law enforcement and the general public in the effort to end animal abuse.
. Devoted to the search for quality homes for every adoptable animal that comes into the shelter.
GCHS is dedicated to expanding the knowledge of and protection of animals we share our lives and world with.
