My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A SMART & SWEET FELLOW:  Approx.  1 year old / Approx. 46 lbs.

Hi, I’m Paxton, but I answer to the name CJ (please refer to Paxton though when inquiring about me as that’s the name all my records are under).  I was rescued from animal control as a puppy in Feb 2025 and adopted in March, but my family realized I was not a good fit for them in December as they are older and thought that I needed a younger family that will be active with me.  I’m back with Mostly Mutts enjoying the company of the volunteers and waiting for my furever family to adopt me. Perhaps that’s you?

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and liked them, but didn’t seem to know how to play with them yet (don’t worry, I’ll learn).  My former family reported that I liked the dogs I met while I was with them, so if you have a dog, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet while with Mostly Mutts, but my former family reported that I liked the kids I met while I was with them – though I don’t recall their ages, so if you have kids, let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m described as a playful, happy, fun, sweet, loving, lively and handsome fellow and I think you will agree when you meet me!  My former family reported that I may dig out from the yard, so please don’t leave me unattended until you know that I won’t do that. / My energy level is 5-7, though it’s sometimes higher and I would like a family that will be active with me.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I am learning lots of great commands with my trainer.  I am a super smart guy and have already mastered the ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, and ‘drop it’ commands.  I also use proper door etiquette, know how to accept friendly strangers without jumping and I have good leash manners. I say that puts me at top of the class! / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / My former family reported that I had good potty manners with them and I’m doing pretty well on the shelter schedule, too, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  My favorite time of day is spending quality time with the nice volunteers. I also love playing with toys and balls and my former family reported that I like playing fetch, so let’s do that in my new home! / I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training.

• MEDICAL:  I'm current on my annual immunizations, micro-chipped and neutered.

I’m a great dog looking for a great family that will spend some time being active with me daily.  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption's Adoption Process

Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following:

Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care.
We are not yet up to full ‘staffing’ following the pandemic, so there may be times when we cannot do meet & greets or process an application on the spot.
The best first step is to submit an application via www.mostlymutts.org.
Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!

Adoption Info:
Please submit an application through our website at www.mostlymutts.org if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets. We are receiving a large volume of applications and processing may take a little bit longer than normal. We are grateful for your interest, and an adoption counselor will be in touch as quickly as possible. Please give us 48 hours to respond before sending a follow-up email.

Don’t see a dog or cat for you on the website? Submit the application anyway!! We are taking in a large number of dogs and cats weekly. Due to the overwhelming demand, many are matched with approved applicants prior to being posted online. Our adoption counselors will be happy to help make a great match for you and your family.

Thank you for your patience and support!

You may also call our phone line, 770-272-6888 or email adopt@mostlymutts.org with specific questions about any of our adoptable animals. We do require an interview, references and a contract. More about this rescue

Who We Are:

Mostly Mutts is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, staffed almost entirely by volunteers!

Our Mission is to help the Unwanted, Abandoned, Abused and Sick animals in our local counties. We fulfill this mission by working closely with County Animal Control Facilities, saving those who are in imminent danger of euthanasia, or those with needs which require specialized vet care that many other groups will not consider: major orthopedic issues, heartworm positive treatment, skin conditions, neglect and abuse

Please visit our website, www.mostlymutts.org for additional information about adopting a new best friend!
