My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A WONDERFUL COMPANION: Approx. 6 years old / Approx. 36 lbs.

Hi, my name’s Esme!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control.  I knew it was my lucky day when they came for me, and things got even better when I went to stay in a loving foster home!  I’ve enjoyed soaking up the love and attention there and can’t wait to do so in a home of my very own!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I am doing great with the other dogs in my foster home and I’m good at reading their cues when they don’t want to play.  It did take me a couple of days to warm up to them, but then we were great!  I also met dogs at Mostly Mutts and liked them, so let’s meet! / I’m doing very well with the kitties in my foster home.  I smelled them and now I don’t pay any attention to them.  All cats are different, so I’m not sure how I would be with another cat. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I was pretty nervous when I first arrived in my foster home, but all I really needed was to cuddle up next to you. I settled in pretty quickly and I give the sweetest look and gently lean my head on you - snuggles are definitely my love language. I’m also very playful and enjoy chewing on my tough toys. My foster says I’m a great dog, very sweet, and I even do well during bath time! The family who chooses me will absolutely be making the right decision - I have so much love to give. / Energy level: 4-6, sometimes lower as I’m pretty chill.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I know the ‘sit’ command and walk well on my leash. I also know ‘kennel’ and will go right into my crate when asked. My foster also reported how fast I learned my name. / In my foster home, I sleep really well in my crate with cozy blankets and don’t make a peep - I only get a little excited and start to stir when it’s time to get up in the morning. Recently, I’ve even been allowed to sleep outside my crate in the room with my foster, and I stay in my spot, sleeping soundly with no accidents and without getting into anything. I’m such a good girl! / I had a couple accidents the first couple days in my foster home, but I quickly learned to go to the back door to let you know I have to go potty.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love sturdy Kong type chew toys (the tough ones - not the stuffed kind of toy, because I’ll happily destroy those!). Playing with other dogs, chasing toys, cuddling, and soaking up lots of attention are other things I love doing. / I haven’t shown any dislikes in my foster home though like all dogs I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training.

• MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.  I have moderate tartar on my teeth, so my adoptive family should consult with their vet and consider a dental cleaning in the future.

I’m a wonderful dog looking for a wonderful family to love and be loved by furever!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption's Adoption Process

Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following:

Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care.
We are not yet up to full ‘staffing’ following the pandemic, so there may be times when we cannot do meet & greets or process an application on the spot.
The best first step is to submit an application via www.mostlymutts.org.
Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!

Adoption Info:
Please submit an application through our website at www.mostlymutts.org if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets. We are receiving a large volume of applications and processing may take a little bit longer than normal. We are grateful for your interest, and an adoption counselor will be in touch as quickly as possible. Please give us 48 hours to respond before sending a follow-up email.

Don’t see a dog or cat for you on the website? Submit the application anyway!! We are taking in a large number of dogs and cats weekly. Due to the overwhelming demand, many are matched with approved applicants prior to being posted online. Our adoption counselors will be happy to help make a great match for you and your family.

Who We Are:

Mostly Mutts is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, staffed almost entirely by volunteers!

Our Mission is to help the Unwanted, Abandoned, Abused and Sick animals in our local counties. We fulfill this mission by working closely with County Animal Control Facilities, saving those who are in imminent danger of euthanasia, or those with needs which require specialized vet care that many other groups will not consider: major orthopedic issues, heartworm positive treatment, skin conditions, neglect and abuse
