Alfie Needs a Foster or Adopter by January 10, 2026 to Secure his spot on our transport to WI.
Alfie was found as a stray and ended up in an Arkansas kill shelter. He is really hoping to get out and catch a ride on our transport coming 1/10/26. To make that transport, Alfie must have a foster or adopter commitment in place. Without one, he will not be able to secure his spot and leave the shelter.
Meet Alfie
Alfie is about 2 years old and weighs approximately 58 pounds. He is a Shepherd/Aussie mix (best guess) — an official mutt. He is a fluffy guy with longer hair and is very handsome. Alfie is neutered and ready for placement.
Alfie is a happy, friendly guy who does well with other dogs and enjoys social interaction. He has not yet been tested with kids or cats, but his overall temperament has been positive and easygoing. Alfie would benefit from a foster or adoptive home that can provide structure, regular activity, and continued guidance as he transitions out of the shelter environment.

Adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter procedure, up to date dewormer, vaccinations, and heartworm prevention (age appropriate).

ADOPTION PROCESS:
1.) Apply: Fill out adoption application completely and submit all necessary documents.
2.)Application Decision: approved applicants will be notified via phone call and email.
3.)Foster-to-Adopt Trial Period: after approval, you have the opportunity to do a meet and greet and bring your dog home! You get a 5 day foster-to-adopt (FTA) period to make sure its the right fit.
4.) Final Decision: By the end of the FTA period, please let us know your final decision to adopt or return the dog to our rescue.
5.) Home Visit: After the adoption process we conduct a home visit either in person or via zoom meeting to ensure that everything is going well with the transition and to answer any final questions you may have.
6.) Neuter/spay for puppies: for dogs who are not fixed at the time of adoption, we will reimburse for the procedure once we receive proof of spay/neuter. The procedure MUST be done at HAWS Snip Clinic in Waukesha, WI or Wisconsin Community Veterinarian Center in Madison, WI. If you would like to go through your veterinarian or another location, we will reimburse $150 once we receive proof of the procedure. We recommend spay/neuter around 6 months old.
