My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Shrimp 🍤 — 100% Adorable, 0% Coordination
Looking for a dog who brings chaos, comedy, and cuddles into your life? Have you ever wanted a silly looking friend whose ears often flip inside out and is half spring half puppy? Congratulations, your search ends here.
Shrimp is a long-legged, lanky little puppy who doesn't know the meaning of grace. Her legs can be described as something between "just for decoration" and "baby deer learning to walk". Shrimp spends her free time bounding around the house like an inebriated gazelle. When she's ready to cuddle, Shrimp will let you know by leaping into your lap like she's practicing for the Olympics...except you're probably across the room and she'll have to make that jump two, three, or even five more times to get to you.

When Shrimp isn’t auditioning for a slapstick comedy, she enjoys naps, snacks, and playing with you like you are the most fascinating thing she’s ever seen. Her ears have a mind of their own, her legs are mostly decorative, and her heart is enormous.
If you’re ready to laugh daily, forgive frequent miscalculations, and fall deeply in love with a puppy who tries her absolute best (even when physics disagrees), Shrimp is ready to flop her way into your home. 🐶💖
All CSHS pups are spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, 4DX negative (if older than 6 months), dewormed and microchipped.

Go meet their pets

While we are a foster-based animal rescue and all of our dogs are in foster care, we do have a cat adoption space at our new Adoption & Wellness Center in Chaska. We also partner with local retail locations like PetSmart Richfield and Chuck & Don's Chanhassen to feature adoptable cats at their stores.

More about this rescue

Carver-Scott Humane Society was founded in 1989 with the mission of connecting animals in need with people who care. Our vision is a world where every animal is safe, cared for, and loved.

In 2017, we introduced a new, innovative rescue philosophy based on our Four Pillars: TNR, Serve Where You Save, FurKeeps, and Adopters Welcome. As of 2018, we adopt over 500 dogs and cats into the community every year, with a nationally reported Live Release Rate of 97%. We serve over 1,000 Minnesota pets and their families annually through our surrender prevention program, FurKeeps, aiming to keep pets out of the shelter system in the first place.

CSHS focuses on serving and saving Minnesota pets, and we do not transport animals in from out of state. We do our best to prevent surrender, which creates capacity for us to transfer most of our animals from high-volume impounds and shelters throughout the state. For the past three years, we have transferred more animals from Minneapolis Animal Care & Control than any other animal welfare organization.
