Roux is a 6-year-old Black Mouth Cur / American Pit Bull mix with beautiful golden fur and the kind of soft, expressive ears that instantly steal your heart. Medium-sized and perfectly balanced between playful and mellow, Roux is a gentle, devoted companion.
Roux’s journey hasn’t been easy. In her original home, she experienced trauma involving another dog, which led to fear and discomfort around other dogs. She was later taken in by a kind family member, but due to that earlier trauma, Roux struggled to comfortably coexist with the resident dogs. Her family loves her deeply and knows she deserves a home where she can feel safe, calm, and relaxed—without the stress of other animals. Because of this, Roux will need to be the only pet in her future home. She also has a prey drive, so a home without cats is recommended.
In her foster home, Roux has shown just how special she is. She is tenderhearted, affectionate, and incredibly well-mannered. She loves being close to her person and truly thrives on connection. Roux will do best in an adult-only home, where she can enjoy a predictable, peaceful environment.
Roux is fully potty trained and knows several commands, including sit, stay, spin, kennel, and “place” (her bed). She’s eager to please, quick to learn, and enjoys getting outside for exercise and playtime. That said, her absolute favorite activity is cuddling. At night, she happily sleeps in bed with her person—especially if she has a soft blanket to snuggle under. She gives the sweetest, most delicate kisses and even finds comfort in soft instrumental music, which helps her relax and drift off to sleep.
Roux is looking for a calm, loving home where she can be the center of someone’s world. In return, she’ll offer unwavering loyalty, endless affection, and the kind of companionship that comes from a dog who truly wants to love and be loved.
