My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Peanut is packed with lots of sweetness, so he must be honey roasted! At close to 10lbs, Peanut is little and lovely. He also has the funniest bark, that sounds like a squeak toy (or a balloon deflating when he`s whiny!). But it makes sense that he sounds like a toy, because he`s a little doll! Peanut is very sweet and good natured. He gets along well with other dogs his size and temperament, so if you have another dog, we always recommend bringing them along to meet. Mr. Peanut is looking shell up in his forever home that has a lot of lap time, and a lot of love, because he surely deserves it. You`d be NUTS to not adopt Peanut!

Peanut is at our Cottonwood Mall location!

More about this shelter

Our shelter had it's beginnings in the mid 90's and formally became a nonprofit organization in 2001. The dream of Lee and Sophia DiClemente has grown to be the largest no-kill animal shelter in New Mexico. Lee passed in 2010, but Sophia carries on with the support of a small staff, a large number of volunteers, and numerous donors - large and small.
