My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How the heck can you NOT want Speck?! At close to 26lbs, Speck is a great medium sized dog, with ht emost beautiful hazel eyes. Speck gets along very well with the other dogs here, and he`d probably enjoy being in a house with dogs he can play with. If you have another dog, we always recommend bringing them along to meet. Speck needs his forever home needs to be one with a lot of couch cuddles, walks, and a ton of love!

Speck is at our Cottonwood Mall location!

More about this shelter

Our shelter had it's beginnings in the mid 90's and formally became a nonprofit organization in 2001. The dream of Lee and Sophia DiClemente has grown to be the largest no-kill animal shelter in New Mexico. Lee passed in 2010, but Sophia carries on with the support of a small staff, a large number of volunteers, and numerous donors - large and small.
