5 years / Female / Pomeranian + Spitz cross/ ~23lbs or 10kg / Rescued from Barbados / Currently fostered in Omemee, ON
• Unknown with children • Prefers calm dogs and should not be an only dog • Unknown with cats • Working on house training (pee pad trained) • Crate trained
A gentle, tender-hearted soul, Petal is quietly learning that the world can be a safe place. Rescued from a very limited life and now in foster care, this 5–6-year-old Pomeranian/Spitz mix is looking for a calm, understanding home where she can continue learning how to simply be herself.
Soft, sensitive, and incredibly sweet, Petal is an emotionally delicate dog who feels things deeply. She is naturally cautious and easily overwhelmed, but when she feels safe, her true personality shines through. She can be affectionate, content, and incredibly loving for those special people she trusts.
Petal is not a typical lap dog, but she is one of the most affectionate dogs you’ll ever meet. She adores gentle pets (especially belly rubs!) and will happily soak up attention for hours while lounging on the floor beside you. Couch cuddles do happen, just not every day! Adopters should be happy to meet her where she’s comfortable.
Once bonded, Petal sticks close to her trusted human, following them from room to room before curling up nearby to nap. Her attachment is calm and loving rather than anxious, and she truly finds comfort just knowing her person is nearby.
Petal absolutely requires at least one calm, stable dog companion. She gains confidence from other dogs and prefers to quietly lay beside them, mirroring their behavior. High-energy dogs are not a good match, and she would not do well as an only dog.
She is still learning the basics and working on her life skills. Petal is pee-pad trained and understands going outside, but fear can sometimes interrupt her house training, especially if she feels rushed or overwhelmed. A predictable routine, patience, and gentle consistency will be essential for her success.
Petal is crate trained and views her crate as a safe, comforting space. While she is no longer crated regularly, she often chooses it when she needs quiet time or reassurance.
Handling can be stressful for Petal. She does not tolerate being picked up and finds too much pressure, eye contact, or physical handling overwhelming. Because of this, she is not a dog who can wear coats or boots, though he
