My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Patches

Age: 12 months
Gender: Female
Weight: 17 kg / 37 lbs
Breed: Whippet mix
Color: White & Brown

Health & Wellness

Spayed
Vaccinated
Heartworm negative

Personality & Behavior

Dog-friendly: Yes
Resource guarding: No
Barking: Alert
Kids: Best with older children due to her playful jumping and high energy
Cats: No
Shedding: Minimal
Energy level: Medium–high — daily physical and mental activity is a must

Training & Adaptability

Leash skills: In progress
Off-leash: Not recommended due to strong prey drive typical of Whippet mixes
Car rides: Yes
Potty trained: Yes — adjusts well to a home environment
Crate trained: Yes (primarily for air travel)

Home Life & Routine

When alone: Patches is very social and does not do well when left alone for long periods. She thrives on companionship and can become anxious if isolated too long.
Sleeping: Currently sleeps in a designated area alongside two other dogs.

A consistent routine, companionship, and gradual alone-time training will be important as she transitions into a home.

Temperament

Patches is a confident, athletic Whippet mix with a loving and loyal heart. She bonds quickly with her people, craves affection, and loves cuddles once her exercise needs are met.
She responds beautifully to positive reinforcement and learns new commands quickly. Agile, smart, and curious, Patches enjoys challenges and adventures. A securely fenced yard is recommended if she will spend time outdoors unattended.

Ideal Home

Patches will thrive with an active family or individual who can provide:

  • Daily exercise and enrichment

  • Short bursts of high-energy activities like jogging, fetch, or outdoor adventures

  • Plenty of companionship

She would love a home where she’s included in everyday life and adventures.

Rescue Story

In early January 2025, Patches was found roaming a yard on the outskirts of Guadalajara with other dogs. A kind person took her in temporarily but couldn’t keep her long-term. Through our rescue partner in Guadalajara, Patches was brought to safety and prepared for adoption. She is now patiently waiting for her forever home in the Seattle area.
