My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Gouda! He is a 3-year-old Husky/Shepherd mix, searching for his forever home.

This sweet guy is a bit of a wallflower at first, but once he gets settled in, his upbeat and loving nature comes out, and he is ready to play and snuggle! Gouda came from a home where he didn't meet a whole lot of people or experience much of the world, but he often enjoyed having an animal companion or two. So, while he is still learning the world and getting used to making new friends, his sweet-natured heart makes him an easy guy to love.

Gouda is believed to be a Husky/German Shepherd/Mastiff mix, making him a combination of three large and powerful breeds. He is very intelligent, and has high needs when it comes to play, exercise, and mental stimulation. His breed tendencies can also make him apprehensive of strangers and exceptionally loyal.

Potential adopters will need to be willing to create a safe space for Gouda, while also encouraging him to enjoy new experiences. He is a nervous fella, and he is not interested in people rushing in to pet him, so he'll need guardians willing to advocate for his boundaries.

Gouda gets his name from his love of cheese! A love that runs so deep that he's had to go on a little diet. He is temporarily on a prescription weight loss food to help him reach a healthy weight. Once he does, he will be ok to enjoy large breed adult food.

This kind, fluffy boy needs lots of room to roam and a comfy place outside to enjoy some fresh air. His future guardians will need to be dog savvy people who can accommodate his social needs.

Gouda is currently awaiting dental surgery and is available for Foster-To-Adopt until he is medically cleared.
