My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lacey! Lacey is a delightful 5‑year‑old Schnauzer-Terrier mix whose gentle nature, and impeccable manners make her an instant favorite with everyone she meets. Schnauzers are known for their sharp minds, loyal hearts, and expressive personalities, and Lacey is no exception. She's a bright, attentive girl who knows her basic commands in both English and German, making her an especially fun and impressive companion. Lacey is calm, polite, eager to please, and she is also crate trained. Whether she's walking on leash, greeting new friends, or settling down for a quiet moment, Lacey is just happy to be with her people.

When Lacey was brought to us, she was suffering from bladder stones and has since had them removed. She is in recovery from this surgery and will need potential adopters who are prepared to support her healing journey back to health!

To keep Lacey feeling her best, she will need an adopter committed to regular veterinary care and a consistent, balanced diet. Because Schnauzers can be prone to urinary issues and pancreatitis, staying on top of routine check‑ups is especially important for her long‑term comfort and health. With the right food and regular checkups with a veterinarian, Lacey can continue to live a happy, active, and comfortable life.

This girl truly thrives when her well‑being is supported, and with a little extra attention to her health, she'll reward her family with endless love and loyalty.

Lacey is still awaiting dental surgery and is available for Foster-To-Adopt until she is medically cleared.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
