My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Toucan is a cute male kitten who was brought to the HSOV on September 19, 2025 with his four siblings (Crocodile, Giraffe, Hyena, and Lion) and his mother (Safari). Toucan and his brothers/sisters were tiny 5-week old babies at that time. This little family was found on Second Street in Marietta Ohio, so we were thankful that Safari could raise her kittens in a safe environment instead of near a busy street. Toucan weighed 0.79 lbs when he entered our shelter.

Toucan has a shiny black short smooth coat, a long tail, and an adorable face with golden eyes, a black velvet nose, and long black whiskers.

This little 'mini panther' is full of playful kitten energy and loves to romp/play with his brothers and sisters. The kittens were separated from their mother in mid-November after they were fully weaned, and they have been enjoying fun-and-games to their heart's content in one of our larger cages. Sadly their little sister Crocodile did not survive and passed away on November 25th.

Toucan was given vaccinations and Drontal wormer on October 22nd. He was given booster vaccines on November 6th and November 22th 2025. Toucan weighed 1.8 lbs on November 22nd and was the smallest of his siblings.

These photos of Toucan were taken on January 10, 2026 when HSOV kennel techs Lauryn Hamilton, Madison Lee, and Hannah McClain spent time with Toucan and his siblings for their Petfinder/Facebook photos. Toucan thoroughly enjoyed his 15-minutes of fame while he explored new territory in our 'studio' and was fascinated with the cowboy hat, potted plants, and catnip pillows.

Toucan will be neutered (tentatively in February 2026) and will soon be ready to find a fabulous home of his very own.
