Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ernie is an adorable one-year old male Australian Cattle Dog/Terrier mix who was brought to HSOV on January 6, 2026 by a Good Samaritan who found him on DAV Road in the Whipple Ohio area. Ernie was accompanied by his best friend (Bert) who may possibly be his brother.

Ernie has a black short smooth coat with a large white bib on his chest, tan shading on his legs, a long tail, and a cute face with dark brown eyes, tan eyebrows, tan shading on his slender muzzle, and large 'horizontal'/semi-erect ears.

These pictures of Ernie were taken on the afternoon of January 12, 2026. Thanks to HSOV Kennel Tech Emily Beaver for spending time with Ernie and assisting him with his photo session. Ernie gave us a variety of poses (still-life, action shots, and some nestled up close to Emily).

Ernie weighs 22 lbs.

In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Ernie was held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Surprisingly nobody called or came looking for Ernie (or Bert).

Ernie will be neutered before being adopted by his new family (a requirement for HSOV adoptions to be finalized). Ernie could be fostered while he is awaiting his neuter procedure with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application.

Update: Ernie was neutered on January 19, 2026 and was also given rabies vaccine.

Ernie went home with a foster family on January 24, 2026 who plans to adopt him if all goes well.

Happy Update: Ernie was officially adopted by his foster family on February 14, 2026.
