My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adopt Bukku ***CURRENTLY IN MARKAHM. ON.!!!

Playful • Curious • Sweet Puppy

Name: Bukku

Age: 6 months

Sex: Spayed Female

Breed: Mixed

Color: Black / Brown / White

Weight: 4.6 kg (10.1 lbs)

Height: 23 cm (9 in) at the shoulder

Rescue Story

Bukku was rescued from a city shelter together with her mom, Barbie.

She grew up closely bonded to her mother and is now slowly learning about the world with curiosity and puppy enthusiasm.

With People

Bukku can be a little shy at first, but she warms up quickly—especially with treats.

Because she has lived closely with her mom, she still relies more on her mother than people for comfort, but once she spends time away from her mom, she is expected to bond well with humans and become very people-oriented.

She allows handling, can be gently picked up by supporting her belly, and once she feels comfortable, she will actively ask for attention—sometimes even barking playfully to make sure you notice her.

With Other Dogs

Bukku is friendly and social.

She approaches both familiar and unfamiliar dogs to greet and initiate play. She is curious even with larger dogs and may try to play with them, but if she feels scared, she will quickly retreat or seek comfort from her mom.

She finds very high-energy dogs overwhelming and avoids dogs that challenge or provoke her.

With Cats

No direct observation yet.

Cat testing can be arranged if needed.

Energy Level

Low to medium energy.

She enjoys outdoor activities and playtime, but settles down well and rests calmly afterward.

Walking

Bukku has limited leash-walking experience.

When she encounters something scary, she may stop and refuse to move. She is currently learning leash skills using positive reinforcement and food luring.

Other Notes

• No food guarding (with people or dogs)

• No separation anxiety, but she does look for her mom when they are apart

• Usually quiet; barking only occurs when she is alone without her mom or when expressing interest/attention

• Calm in a crate

• Car rides are scary—she needs to be carried into the car

• Potty routine: outdoor during the day, pee pads at night

• Currently only potties in the yard; leash potty training will take additional time

Bukku is a young puppy who will thrive in a patient home that understands she is still learning and growing. With gentle guidance and consistency, she has the potential to become a confident, loving companion.

If you’re ready to grow together with a sweet rescue pup, Bukku may be the perfect match

More about this rescue

Adopt Korean Rescue is a volunteer-based federally registered not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping homeless and unwanted dogs in South Korea find a new home in Canada.

We love Korean dogs. Many of them live in chains, give birth on the side of the road, or wander around with their pups. Some of them get caught and end up at dog meat farms or high-kill shelters in South Korea. They luckily meet us just before euthanasia or after many years of living in dog meat farms. We exist to hold their paws and help them find a forever home in Canada full of joy and happiness.

Our dog rescue work depends on our flight volunteers. They help us safely bring our dogs from Korea to Vancouver or Toronto airports, where the dogs will find loving forever or foster homes.
