My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Kiki and here is a bit more about me:

My Journey
Smittens pulled me from a shelter in the Los Angeles area where I was sadly on the euthanasia list. Thanks to that second chance, I’m now safe, thriving, and ready to find a forever home where I can share all the love and energy I have to give.

My Social Life
Other cats ?I haven’t been fostered with another cat as a direct buddy, but I’ve shown curiosity and interest in meeting resident cats. With patience and proper introductions, I may enjoy a feline companion.
Dogs ? I haven’t had experience with dogs yet.
Kids ? Because I can get very excited and express myself with gentle nibbles, I’d be happiest in a home where I`m the child.

My Personality
Extremely affectionate and people-focused
Energetic, curious, and playful
A devoted biscuit maker (especially on my favorite human!)
I love pets and cuddles most times of the day and thrive on human connection. I’m full of energy and love exploring my surroundings, but I also adore being close to my person — laps, chests, and cozy snuggle spots are all fair game.

I Enjoy
Interactive play, especially toys on strings
Shaky mice, balls with bells, and anything I can chase
Burning off energy through play before settling in for cuddles

I’m Not a Fan Of
Being alone for long periods
Being ignored when I’m asking for affection
When I’m feeling extra excited and want more love, I might gently paw (no claws!), hop up for attention, or occasionally give a soft nibble to ask for more pets. Watching my body language and giving me time to calm down helps me feel understood and secure.

What Makes Me Special
When I see my favorite human, my excitement is impossible to miss — I get a little poofy triangle at the base of my tail with a tiny happy shake that says it all. It’s my signature move and proof of just how much I love my people.

My Perfect Home
I’d do best in a patient, loving home with adults or older children who understand cat behavior and excitement cues. I have lots of energy and will need plenty of enrichment, interactive play, and stimulation. I’m very social and crave closeness with my human. With the right slow introduction, I may also do well with a playful, kind feline companion who can match my energy.

More about this rescue

Smittens isn’t just another cat rescue.
We are a coalition of volunteers with a spay/neuter mission, dedicated to helping both stray and owned animals in the greater San Diego area get fixed, receive veterinary care, and whatever else they may need! Smittens works with shelters and other rescues to route cats to proper vet care and eventual homes, and we take in stray cats who need help getting off the street. We also support TNR for feral cats, and assist cat and dog owners to get their own pets fixed and vaccinated at a low cost.
