My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Adzuki and here is a little more about me :

My Journey
I was found as a stray in Tijuana with my three siblings and brought to Smittens so we could start a safe, happy life indoors. I’ve been thriving ever since and am ready for my next big adventure: a forever home!

My Social Life
Other cats: I love playing with my sister (Borlotti) and have met several other kitties. I may hiss a little at first with new feline friends, but I warm up within a few days. Slow, thoughtful introductions are best for me.
Dogs: I haven’t met dogs yet.
Kids: I’ve met calm, friendly mini humans and had a blast playing with them! Since I’m still a kitten, I can get excited and may nibble during play.
In short: I’m a social, playful kitten who enjoys both feline and human companionship and adapts well with gentle guidance.

My Personality
Energetic, outgoing, and affectionate. I love being near my people and want to play all day long! I’m quick to trust humans and enjoy being involved in whatever’s happening around me.

I Enjoy…
Any toy on a string—especially feathers and bells
Chasing balls and interactive play
Being close to my humans (I’ll often pop up on high surfaces and stand up to reach you—it’s my way of saying hi!)

I’m Not a Fan Of…
Honestly, I’m pretty adaptable and easygoing!

What Makes Me Special
I’m a big, fluffy guy—almost twice the size of my sister—and still growing into my impressive presence.

My Perfect Home
I’d thrive in a home with another playful cat (bonus points if it’s my sister!) and plenty of stimulation, enrichment, and interactive play. If I don’t have enough outlets for my energy, I’ll invent my own entertainment—which may not always be ideal! I also need a home where I can be around people often and soak up lots of love.

My Special Needs
I can have a sensitive tummy when adjusting to new foods or environments—pretty typical cat stuff. A slow food transition and the use of probiotics will help keep my belly happy.

More about this rescue

Smittens isn’t just another cat rescue.
We are a coalition of volunteers with a spay/neuter mission, dedicated to helping both stray and owned animals in the greater San Diego area get fixed, receive veterinary care, and whatever else they may need! Smittens works with shelters and other rescues to route cats to proper vet care and eventual homes, and we take in stray cats who need help getting off the street. We also support TNR for feral cats, and assist cat and dog owners to get their own pets fixed and vaccinated at a low cost.
